Raising the Roof, #2 in the Girls Know How® series, gives a first-hand look at the world of construction and introduces a character based on Linda Alvarado, President of Alvarado Construction, Colorado.

After losing their clubhouse to a rival neighborhood group of boys, fifth-grade friends Tori, Angie and Kelly are inspired by the head of a major construction company to build their own. The girls roll up their sleeves preparing blueprints, work schedules and budgets, but stormy weather, differences of opinion and the boys’ attempts to undermine their efforts test their friendship. They not only learn valuable construction skills, they learn about teamwork, earn the respect and friendship of the boys and realize their dreams.

The first book, Will Stephanie Get the Story?, written by Ellen Langas Campbell, focuses on journalism as a profession and features a character based on Marcia Bullard, President, CEO and Editor of USA WEEKEND.

Stephanie is the new girl at school. Although she had to leave all her old friends behind, she is excited to meet her new classmates and happy to learn that her school has a Newspaper Club. If only she could win a spot in the club! But Stephanie finds herself in hot water on the day her application is due. She struggles with writing her first article and almost gives up. Read how meeting a special woman gives her the encouragement she needs to follow her dream.
