FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GIRLS KNOW HOW® BOOKS HELP KIDS CONSIDER CAREERS
Series Launches on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day,
April 22
Downingtown, PA – March 24, 2004 – What do you want to be
when you grow up? GIRLS KNOW HOW®, a new series of books
for girls, debuts April 22 to help kids consider career
opportunities. The series launch date coincides with “Take
Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day,” a day dedicated to
focusing on expanding future opportunities for all
children, in both their work and family lives.
GIRLS KNOW HOW® books encourage young girls, ages 8 to 12,
to pursue the careers of their dreams. Each book within the
fiction series features a girl presented with a challenge
who is encouraged by an accomplished woman at the pinnacle
of her career, a character based on a real-life successful
woman.
Marcia Bullard, President and CEO of USA WEEKEND, is the
inspiration for the role model character in the first book,
Will Stephanie Get the Story?, which focuses on journalism
and tells the story of Stephanie, a new girl at school, and
her quest to land a spot on the staff of the school
Newspaper Club. Readers learn along with Stephanie that
with hard work, any girl’s dream can come true. A bio and
exclusive interview with Ms. Bullard are included to guide
girls wishing to learn more about journalism.
“Girls can get big ideas from these books that will light
their imaginations and show them how they can really make a
difference with the careers they choose,” says Ms. Bullard.
“I’m excited that in a few years, we might even see more
women journalists because this book sparked an interest in
the profession.”
“I grew up having interest in so many different career
possibilities that it frustrated me not to be able to try
them all,” says author and entrepreneur Ellen Langas
Campbell, President of NouSoma Communications, Inc.,
Downingtown, PA. “Girls Know How books provide girls an
opportunity to learn about different professions through
the eyes of young girls who could be just like their next
door neighbors, or even just like them.” An accomplished
commercial actress and voice-over artist, Langas Campbell
previously was a popular on-air host and corporate officer
for television retailer QVC, Inc.
Next in the series is a story focusing on a career as an
architect, due for release this fall. Girls Know How books
are available at bookstores nationally and at
www.girlsknowhow.com. For more information, call
